Message From President NSI
Dear NSI members
It is time to plan for our annual national conference for 2017. Our hosts –
Dept of Food Science and Nutrition , Assam Agricultural University- Jorhat -Assam are doing everything possible to make this a memorable and unique conference. This is the first time in our 50 yr existence that the NSI is meeting in North East India. I am sure most of us would not have stepped into North East , one of the most serene and picturesque part of India.
The conference will be preceded by a day of workshops on the 2nd of November. We should therefore arrive not later than 1st November. There are two simultaneous workshops one of which would cover the entire array of designing and planning research studies and the other is on managing food analysis laboratories that will focus on the principles and practices. Both of these would be of immense value to students and teachers.
Since north east is a biodiversity hot spot the theme of the conference itself is on biodiversity. There is one symposium on Biodiversity and food security based on traditional systems and another on nutraceuticals and functional foods. These are in addition to all the orations by some of the best scientists in the country.
This is a golden opportunity and a curtain raiser for the golden jubilee year 2018.
The organizers have provided all the required information and are willing to help you out on any issue related and unrelated to the conference if you could communicate to them by email. NSI headquarters in Hyderabad are also available for your queries.
Looking forward to seeing you all in good numbers in Jorhat Assam.
